Cafe Postcode
Restaurant operations with offline-capable POS.
Overview
A restaurant platform covering POS, kitchen, inventory, staff workflows and reporting. The frontend, backend and Go local agent were developed by one engineer. The agent stores branch operations locally and synchronizes them with the backend.
The challenge
Orders, payments and stock movements involve several interfaces and physical devices. Local operation records and synchronization preserve continuity during connection outages.
Engineering decisions
Durable work at the branch
The local agent persists operations in SQLite and manages a durable outbox. Synchronization respects dependencies and can recover historical operations, allowing the backend to reconcile work after connectivity returns.
Explicit business records
Inventory uses posted movements, reversal documents, recipe versions and cost calculations. Payroll keeps effective-dated rates and locked calculation versions, so corrections remain explainable.
Connect software to devices
Separate POS, administration and staff interfaces connect to the same business model. The local agent integrates printers and payment or fiscal devices, with authenticated pairing and verified software updates.
What it delivers
Used in 200+ branches. Browser applications, backend rules, device integrations and offline synchronization form one operational system.
Sources & context
Solo development and the 200+ branch figure are reported by Nazarbek. The architecture and business workflows are supported by source review. The public landing page currently uses the PosCode brand.
